About Me

My name is Ryan Barney. As a boy I drew and doodled characters, imagining what kind of lives they would lead. I went through school taking as many art classes as possible learning how to bring my ideas to life and make them more believable. I became interested in media arts, games and movies, so I attended Lake Washington Tech hoping to find my niche in their MMDP program. There I found the world of 3D and fell in love with it. I knew this is what I wanted to do from that point on. Excelling quickly, I outgrew the small technical college and looked to jump-start my carreer at Vancouver Film School.

From day one there I knew I was in the right place. I had never met so many people at once that had the same passions, and mind set as I did. I have now graduated from Vancouver Film School’s Animation and Visual Effects course with a focus on Modeling. My time at VFS was the best of my life. Working with and around other artists from all over the world bristling with new ideas was the best part of it all.

As I have grown as a tecnical artist I have become interested in all aspects of the 3D pipeline. Modeling, animating, rigging, shading, lighting, and texturing all interest me and I excell at them all. My love of form and design always keeps modeling at the top of the list.

When I'm not working I am still usually not far from the mouse. I am an avid gamer and play multiple games such as Eve, Team Fortress 2, and Counter Strike. I can also be found staring at my XBox or watching a good movie.(No I do not watch any bad movies.) When I decide my sun quota is running low I usually rough myself up skateboarding or snowboarding depending on the season.
